Fans of Wynonna Earp were devastated when SYFY canceled the series after its fourth season back in 2021. The supernatural, weird Western show centered around the titular Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano, who Trekkies will recognize as Captain Batel on Strange New Worlds), her sister Waverly, Waverly’s wife Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell), and Wynonna’s on-and-off again beau, Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon), is an entertaining watch, full of queer joy, bar fights, and vampires.

The show’s creator Emily Andras as well as the actors have publicly said they wanted to bring the gang back together for a proper ending to the series, and, as Vanity Fair reports, it looks like Andras has done so, writing a ninety-minute feature tentatively titled Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, that will be available on Tubi sometime later this year. Paolo Barzman, who directed several episodes of the show, is on board to direct the scripted special, which will soon start shooting in Calgary.

Andras and the cast got on a Zoom call to discuss the return (you can see that on the Vanity Fair link above), and shared their excitement.

“There are definitely some nerves, but it’s kind of muddled with this ecstasy and excitement of actually putting on Waverly’s shoes again,” Provost-Chalkley said on the Zoom. “I haven’t been on set since we left, so that’s going to be a whole thing, just to reconnect with that world. But I keep telling myself that if there’s any group that I want to do that with, it’s this family.” icon-paragraph-end
